ELIZABETHAN EVENGINGS
A Pageant of Elizabethan Dance, Music and Merriment at Foppington Hall
An Elizabethan entourage gathers on the steps of Foppington Hall
in eager anticipation of seeing a damn good thrashing!
Imagine, if just for the moment, that you are in a festive, high-ceilinged hall, hung with tapestries and banners, lit by many candles. You have entered the manor of Lord Foppington. The year is 1590. The hall is crowded with people in their finest court attire, eager to dance, eager to flirt, eager for intrigue. Let the entertainment begin. Huzzah!
Edmund, 5th Earl Foppington, 16th Baron of Pilton and Dicot,
and secret editor of the works of Shakespeare.
Similar to "La Festival LaFoon" in spirit and fun, but with a twisted Shakespearian theme. Includes period music and dancing and all the bawd, debauchery and farce that the bard loved so well!
Our Elizabethan Evenings are performed in conjunction with the Washington Renaissance Dancers, with music provided by the Washington Renaissance Consort. This group has been performing in the Washington, D.C. area for over 11 years. Their glorious presentations of authentic music and dances of the Elizabethan-era, relying upon translations of original 16th century sources as well as original reconstructions by the group's directors, have been featured at the Kennedy Center, the National Theatre, the British Embassy, the Folger Theater, and Washington National Cathedral.
