About the Company
Lord Foppington & Company, LLC is a theatrical production company specializing in the art of historical and period comedy. It was founded in 1995 by three individuals with extensive backgrounds in theatre and history -- G. Claudia Madison, Belinda J. Stamper and Brian Taylor Goldstein -- with the purpose of employing theatre as a means to release history from the chains of uninspired lecturers and time worn presentations, rendering it free to entertain, delight and amuse, as well as enlighten. By weaving parody, farce, period scripts, and original material with authentic period detailing, Lord Foppington provides audiences an opportunity to experience the rich tapestry of history creatively and accessibly.
Lord Foppington operates as a repertory company, drawing from a select list of actors and musicians to perform fully staged productions as well as portray interactive, comedic characters. The company holds regular auditions to fulfill its casting needs and provides its performers with workshops and instruction on period dancing, deportment, improvisation, audience interaction, period language and speech, dialect, and other skills crucial for a Foppington cast member. Evident in each production or performance is "His Lordship's" demand for artistic excellence and strict attention to detail.
Since its inception, Lord Foppington has been able to bring its unique brand of humour and theatre to numerous theaters, historic sites, inns and conference centers, corporate events, and community events. In its never ending quest to leave no period unspoofed, unproded, and unpoked, it has appeared in such diverse venues as:
